Does anyone know if any other DVR's other than Tivo will work with Starter Cable with Cable Card?
I have been looking at the Magnavox MDR868H.
This device has no monthly fee's. Also if it does work will I need a tuner?

This is an over the air device, won't work on QAM cable.
A TA is not a tuner.
This has composite and Svideo inputs you could connect it to a cable box but you can't record SDV channels via the tmer, only while you're actually watching them.
Is there a list anywhere of DVRs that will work with QAM cable?
Any that don't have monthly fee's?
If not I may consider buying a lifetime plan from Tivo.
TWC refuses to allow COAM DVR's short of Tivo and Cetron . You must rent a Tunning adapter and cable card to get most channels.
A "tuning adapter" is just another name for a cable modem with USB lan connection. It's what registers the box, syncs up the cablecards decription with channels you pay for and "orders" SDV channels to be sent on a Qam channel to you.
Hauppage and Silicon Devices have some devices as well BUT, there's an issue with Microsoft/edia center/WMA getting really picky on DRM -copyright holders gonna sue... yaddda dadda...
