System on button

I got a new remote (RC 122) and it doesn’t have one button which will turn on more than one device at a time. Really poor remote since virtually everyone needs to turn on at least 2 devices: a tv and cable box. Shame on you Spectrum.

Re: System on button

There is no use in turning off the cable box as there is no ower savings. Leave it "on" and just turn off the tv

That one button is the POWER button and it needs to be programmed to control the on/off functions of your TV.  (The Power button may be called the System Button on other remotes.)

Here is the information for the RC-122 remote:

https://www.timewarnercable.com/en/support/program-your-remote/RC122.html

First, try the Auto Search Method per these instructions for this brand of remote:

Auto-Search Method (recommended) The Auto-Search Method scans through all of the codes in the remote, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code. Follow these steps:

Turn on the device, such as your TV, that you want the remote to operate.

On your remote, press the corresponding device button [such as TV, DVD, CBL] and the SELECT/OK buttons simultaneously until all the device buttons blink twice.

Point the remote at the device and press 9 9 1. The device button you selected in step 2 blinks twice.

Press the PLAY arrow button one time.

If your device powers off, go to step 6. If not, press the REWIND or FF arrow buttons to step through the available codes until it does.

Press SELECT/OK as soon as the device powers off.

Verify that the correct code has been selected by pressing the POWER button. Your device should turn back on. If it does, try changing the channel to verify programming was successful.

Press SELECT/OK to store the code.

Note: If your remote does not control your component after following the steps above, try the Manual method.

Click on the Download Remote Manual  and follow the code programing instructions for your TV if the above steps do not work.

Re: System on button

With the RC122 remotes, you can set the singular Power button at the top to act like the old "System" button did. When set to function like this, the individual device buttons (AUX, TV, CBL, etc.) will instead act as their own individual power buttons for those devices.

To set the Power button as your System On/Off button, perform the following steps:

1) Press and hold Select/OK and CBL until all of the device buttons blink twice.

2) Press 998 - this should cause the CBL button to blink twice.,

3) Press the TV button - the CBL button should blink twice again.

4) Press the CBL button - the CBL button should blink twice again.

(If you want the On/Off to also effect other devices, select those device buttons as well (ie. AUX for a sound system you have the remote programmed to), and the CBL button will blink twice for each.)

5) Once the devices have been selected, press Select/OK - all devce buttons should blink three times.

This will allow the singular power button to act like the System button did previously. If you find that you need to power on a single device instead of all of them at once, simply press the individual Device button.

I hope this, in conjunction with the device programming instructions provided earlier, improve your experience with the new remote and its features!
