Spectrum remote URC 1160 missing the restart button

Hello,

I tried to watch a recorded program while it was still recording.  The screen had a message saying that if I wanted to watch from the beginning, press the restart button.  The picture of the restart button looked like a counter-clockwise arrow.  No such button exists on this remote.  At this point I must wait for the end of the film to watch from the beginning.  Pressing the rewind button did not work as expected; I was thrown back into the previous program on the channel I was watching. At this point I'm about ready to ask for the previous box and remote that this one replaced.

Thanks for any help

Scott

Hi Scott,

What guide do you have from this list? https://www.spectrum.net/support/tv/which-guide-do-i-have-t?redirected=true  Have you tried using the arrow buttons to move the highlighted prompt up or down when in the Record Options Menu?  You should be able to use the arrow keys in the remote and then after highlighting "Restart" press the Select button in the middle of the arrows.

You can always go to a Spectrum Store and replace the remote.  I recommend asking for the Clickr Backlite.  It is really good!  All the remotes work with all the boxes in the field.

Re: Spectrum remote URC 1160 missing the restart button

Thanks, Satch, that's what I normally see, i.e. a button labeled "Restart"!  In this particular, however, that button was unavailable from the DVR menu.  Not the first time I've seen glitchy behavior.  When I try to program the channel 17 11pm news as a recurring recording, it only ever gets the one I selected to program the series from.  I may have to take your advice and return this for the version you suggested.

We have the top guide called "Spectrum Guide" we received this DVR and remote when our older Time Warner Cable DVR failed (the one label ODN Guide with the Remote Control on the left. Is that the Clickr Backlit you refer to in your post?

Thanks,

Hi Scott,

I will add a picture of the Clickr Backlight Remote.  Oh yea, and that's another thing with the new Spectrum Guide, there are some programs that are not recordable as a series yet.  This is a bug and Spectrum  is working on it, so this could be fixed in the next Spectrum Guide Update.  But don't hold your breath.

Many customers are very frustrated with the New Spectrum Guide and the new Remote.  ODN was SO MUCH BETTER!  The secret Scott, is that if the new World Boxes are making you crazy, you should go back to your Spectrum office and get a box with a clock on it.  Those DVR's unfortunately will only have two tuners instead of World Box's four tuners.

The best boxes are are the Cisco 9865 and the Arris 3600-M. Six tuners that run ODN Guide.  One of those would be the FIRST THING that I would ask for at the office!  They are a rare find, but are AWESOME! (They haven't been converted to New Spectrum Guide yet.)  The other boxes with clocks are two-tuners with ODN.  But at the very least if you get a clock box, you will get the better guide back again.

Spectrum Guide is actually getting better, but it's not up to ODN guide reliability-wise yet.

Here are your options:

1.) You go to the office and get the clickr backlight remote, keeping your World Box.  You won't be able to call Spectrum to get the remote, because you have no way of knowing what model they are going to send.  You will need to reprogram the remote for your TV when you get it home.  Instructions should come with it or just Google - Spectrum programing your remote.

2.) You go to the office and bring your World Box with you, swapping it out for a box with the clock.  Ask if they have one of the six-tuner boxes and get that.  Try to get the Clikr Backlight  remote as well.  Even if they only have the two tuner box, you will get your clock and old guide back.

3.) You call Spectrum, say you hate the World Box and New Spectrum Guide, if option #2 is a hassle and say you are having trouble navigating the new Spectrum Guide menus.  They will get a tech out, and I am sure that he will have a box with a clock.  You can also ask and see if he has a different model remote.  The tech will be able to program the remote for you when he is at your house and again, you will get your old guide back.

Note that Spectrum won't roll out techs just for remote swaps.  But if the tech is there doing something else and sees a remote problem, he can swap it out for you,  and program it as well.

PS. Top right-hand side of my post is the photo attatchment of the Clickr Backlite Remote.
