Recording NASCAR and Indycar Racing Series

There is no way to record NASCAR or Indycar racing as a series. I must find it in the guide each time. Is this an error or an agreement with the racing venues?

I haven't found a way to do this on the set top box DVR. However, go to:

https://watch.spectrum.net/rdvr/my-recordings

Sign in, click the DVR tab, and search of what you want (e.g. NASCAR Racing). I was able to set up the series recording like I used to on my set top box. I don't have much experience with it yet and it's still odd that I can't do this via the set top box, but this seems to be a good work-around.

Hi Harwood,

This is an issue with the guide software.  Most of our guide data comes from Gracenote.  They have changed the way that series data is organized.  A series must have episode numbers and seasons in it for it to count as a series.

You may notice that if you search for TV series, it will say things Like Season 1, Episode 1, or Season 5, episode 3.  Because no sports data can be organized by Seasons and Episodes numbers, our guides do not have the functionality to record all showings of a game team or sporting event at once.

Each game must be recorded individually, due to the way that the guide software is designed.

Suppose that even if the guide COULD record a designated Sports Team's game as a series, the programing could run into a lot of problems:

  • Rain delays, forcing the postponement of the playing of games.
  • Extra time added to a game telecast, it would be very difficult to predict how long a game will run.  Football Games, Baseball games, Tennis Matches, can extend several hours from the Time Grid Guide data end time
  • Networks delaying the start of games

This is why the series options must relate to seasons and episodes, and all sporting events must be recorded individually.
