Programming Directional arrows/cursor controls on 8780L remote

Directional arrows default to cable and cannot be reprogrammed to TV. Need the arrows for cursor control on tv. TV is a Samsung. Any way to fix or am I stuck using 2 remotes. Forum created in2014 same problem but did not see any solution

As best as I can tell, the Channel buttons can be programmed to control different devices: but the arrow keeps appear to be static... I've heard of people programming their Samsung remotes to control cable boxes though - but I don't own a Samsung so I wouldn't have much information on that at all.

My view,

I would REALLY recommend a remote from Spectrum to combat problems like this.  Yes, there are other remotes out there and Universal Remotes.  But even they are not guaranteed to work with Spectrum cable boxes.  Spectrum even has a special remote with big buttons for the elderly.  They are easy to program for your TV's on off, volume and mute functions.  The arrow keys on the cable remotes refer to cable box program guide directional navigation.

Spectrum has a whole list of remotes and how to program them here:

Yeah but the Spectrum remotes can't assign the directional left/right arrows to the TV device. On the 8780/8790Ls, the only other device that those can be mapped to is DVD.

Don't get me wrong: I've got a TCL TV and my Spectrum Remote is great for it - but I also don't need the directional arrows for anything I do with my TV.
