Program available in Guide, can watch LIVE, but DVR refuses to record

I'm unsure of what I can add to the subject that would convey useful info, but I'll try.

The show in question is F1 qualification for the race in Japan, aired at 8:55 PM on channel 302 (ESPN News). It's available on the DVR Channel Guide, I can even watch it live. When I go into my LIST it appears there but once I attempt to watch the recording, I receive a message stating the show is "unavailable" (see image)

The cable drop is less than a year old, provided by Spectrum. I've had no issues with tuning this station or any other. Once I realized what was happening, I quickly rebooted the DVR to hopefully restore the ability to record. That failed too. I'm certain the DVR has ample space, as I've been recording show all day. Those other shows playback just fine.

Please advise, I'd like to fix this ASAP, as I have a lot of recording scheduled for Sunday, including the race I watched qualification for that comes on in a few hours.336E8005-F188-4857-873B-6E68C0CF6C2E.jpeg

Hello,

What is the make and model of this box?  Try to record a show on another channel and see if that works.  We need to see if it is something with that channel or the DVR?  Is this the first time that this has happened?

Where are you located?  City? State? and Zip?  This could be a signal problem as well. If it is a signal problem, you would call Spectrum for a service call, and don't reboot anything for at least six hours prior to your appointment.  This includes the boxes, modems, and routers.  Reboots will reset the error codes and you don't want that.  Set up another recording first and see if that works. (On a different channel.)

If that second recording does not work, and since you have already rebooted the box, the mods might need to investigate based on your city, state, and zip, if there is a problem in your area.  Post back please!

Assuming it's not a faulty box or guide issue, it's possible that the content owner (ESPN or F1) has decided not to allow recordings of this race.

Hey Reds,

Yea, that possibility is there.  Especially if OP tests another recording or two and they are fine.  If it is a guide issue, would they be able to fix this for him without the need to swap the box?  The other thing that I was thinking is, lets say that he can't record anything at all.  Somehow the DVR could have become unauthorized on the account.  (Once in a blue moon, this happens.)  He could call customer care and a competent rep would know to reauthorize the DVR to the account.

It looks like he's got ODN Navigator, and I would hate to see him having to give that up and lose all his race recordings and go with the less reliable World Box and Spectrum Guide.  That is my concern of what could happen if a tech is dispatched.  Waiting to see if he can record other things will tell us a lot.

Disregard.

Neither qualy or the race recorded.

Live sporting events was the only reason I had cable, but that need has been filled by F1 TV Pro, for a measly $10/month. I was watching both qualy and the race within minutes of signing up.

I thought the issue here was not being able to record the races? Does F1 TV Pro allow you to record or does it just allow you to watch a race from their On Demand library?

@reds (& Satch):

I no longer need to record anything. They stream every F1 practice, qualification, and race LIVE which you can rewatch at your leisure. They offer iOS & Android apps, as well as a webpage that plays the their HD videos just fine on my HTPC.

Also, I wanted to thank you and satch for offering to help. I’m just burned out trying to figure all this nonsense out. Error codes, splash screens asking me to upgrade my channels (even tho I’m already subscribed), and that worthless Spectrum TV app. I’ve never had this many issues with cable TV, ever. Internet? Sure, but never cable TV. You and satch have talent, I’m just not sure why you’re wasting it on Spectrum?!

Thanks for the help!
