Can DCX3600 output audio over HDMI and S/PDIF at same time?

I'd like to have audio simultaneously going from an Arris DCX-3600 to HDMI (to my AV receiver and connected TV and speakers) and to S/PDIF (to a sound bar I'd like to get). There is a setting in the Arris manual suggesting this is possible, but I'd like some confirmation that it actually can do this. Thanks!

If it works, the audio will be way out of sync. Use the TV's HDMI ARC output instead, thae TV can be used to select your blu ray player as well.

Interesting... so, you are suggesting that if I want audio from both my AV receiver-connected speakers as well as from a sound bar, it would be better to connect the sound bar to the TV (such as via S/PDIF) rather than to the Arris box, is that correct?

Your TV is probably the only device that could adjust the delay. Better sets also have optical out and it's correctly timed with the video.

I haven't seen any soundbars that could.  Try the cable box, perhaps the arris will work.
