Password Popup in Outlook - Will Acct Be Disabled - AGAIN??

Does the switch to Spectrum have anything to do with this?

 

History:  Seven months ago on March 17, 2016,   son's primary account and my subaccount were disabled after numerous problems beginning in January 2016.     After a lot of back and forth into March,  we finally reset passwords for the last time for both accounts and have been fine - until tonight - when I began getting the Outlook popup again.    Sent a couple of test messages from my hotmail account to both our accounts - and, so far, they haven't bounced back - but, based on past experience, it is only a matter of time before one or both accounts are disabled.

 

Curiously, almost all previous cases of account disabling took place after 5:30 on a Friday - so, here we are again - or soon will be.

 

Both of us have addresses:     xxxxxxx@wi.rr.com - and are still using POPSERVER.     Seven months ago, it was stated on this board POP would work for a while, but recommended  that users switch to:

 

Account Type: IMAP
Incoming Mail Server: mail.twc.com
Incoming Server - IMAP port: 143
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.twc.com

Outgoing Server - SMTP port: 587
Inbound & Outbound User Name: Enter full email address

  • johndoe@[division].rr.com
  • johndoe@roadrunner.com
  • johndoe@twc.com

Inbound & Outbound Password: Email Password (same as Web Mail)

SMTP Server Requires Authentication: Yes / Checked?

 

What do you recommend we do?    Reset passwords and switch to IMAP - or is there something else going on?

 

It is just too coincidental that once again, on a Friday,  these messages start.  I fully expect when I open Outlook tomorrow  it will be shut down completely.

 

Any help is appreciated.

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble. Are you able to login to 

mail.twc.com to send and receive? Are you logging directly into mail.twc.com

periodically to keep the account active?

Thanks for the response.   No, I'm not logging into webmail, because Outlook does that daily when I open it.    Didn't think it was necessary.  Guess, henceforth, I'll do that weekly.     I am using this link:   https://webmail.wi.rr.com/

 Should I be accessing another way?

 

I did change password on Sunday using self-care - and still got another two password popups again later that day after the password change - which is curious.     

 

So far this week  - business days - no issues.

We do suggest that customers use   mail.twc.com

You can use your old link if you prefer.
