I just started getting this message for receivng emails - sending works fine. It works fine on my wife's computer (I have a home network) and also on our iPhones. This just started within the last couple of days. I have been using POP email with TWC/Spectrum for over 5 years with no problems. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? It basically says the "operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. Will see if I get any replies before I call TWC tech support...........which I dread. Thanks!
If you call TW they will probably tell you to call Microsoft, even though they have been having major problems with thier mail server rejecting both outgoing and incoming mail when using any client software such as Outlook, thunderbird, Eudora etc. I have not been able to send or receive email for over a week. If you speak to a "tech support" person they will immediately tell you to call Microsoft, at which point you must demand to speak to a supervisor who will then tell you that they know about thier mail server problem with clients and simply that they are working on it. My suggestion is that you don't pay your Spectrum bill until the fix it.
We do not support 3rd party email sowftware, which is why we would tell you to call Microsoft, as that is their product, not ours. We only support our Webmail platform which can be reached by going to rr.com
One answer, from Microsoft's site:
If the error message is accompanied by a time-out error message, you may be able to resolve this problem by increasing the server time-out setting in Outlook or Outlook Express. To increase the server time-out setting, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for the version of Outlook or Outlook Express that you have installed.
Outlook 2010 and later
