Re: speed test

Need to see the signal level and error log pages, don't reset the modem. We can read more into what TWC says is  "fine"Robot Sad

I'm not sure where my replies are going. I don't see them posted. I last tried about an hour ago

Re: speed test

Let's try this again. That showed up.

I have talked to Arris which was Motorola about the SB6141 at least three times about this problem to ensure that the modem was working as designed.  The signal is strong. The errors are within acceptalbe parameters. Total uncorrectable words are less than 1500 over a 12 day modem uptime over 8 channels. Signal to noise ratio is 38 dB.

When the modem logs a retry exhausted error, Windows 10 event viewer logs a browser error. I am unable to cut and paste the event viewer log because it won't allow that action

Re: speed test

Post the signal level page without reseting anything. What is "written" as acceptable isn't in many cases.

Re: speed test

power level is exactly 0.0 dB on all channels?

Re: speed test

Yes, at the time it was 0 across all channels. Now at 10:25CDT it is running at 1 across the boatf. Noise is still at 38dB

Downstream Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR):23.5 dB or greater (if 64 QAM)
30 dB or greater (if 256 QAM and DPL = -5 to +15 dB)
33 dB or greater (if 256 QAM and DPL = -6 to -15 dB)

Acceptable Signal Levels (per channel)

Downstream Power Level (DPL):+15 to -15dBmV

Re: speed test

Dear Mr. Southard,

Thank you for contacting ARRIS. I apologize for the inconvenience regarding issues with streaming, and will be happy to assist.

If the unit connects through a router, the first thing I advise to do, if you are able to, is to bypass the router. Connect the modem directly to your computer, and monitor the quality of the stream. This will help rule out any possible issues on the router's end.

If the coaxial cable from the wall runs through a splitter, try bypassing it, and run the cable directly from the wall to the modem.  If the coax cable is connected to a wall plate, try swapping it out and connecting a different cable, if you have one that is available. Again, test the streaming capability.

If the issue persists, please log into the settings page of the modem, and check the signal levels the unit is receiving. We would need to verify the Downstream Signal to Noise Ratio, and Downstream and Upstream Power Levels. If these values are out of range or borderline, the cable provider may need to send a technician to make any needed adjustments to the lines.

The above ranges are inacurate and incorrect. Those are on a lab quality connection not real world conditions

Re: speed test

more like:

34 dB or greater s/n (if 256 QAM and DPL = -5 to +10 dB)

 and 38 dB s/n for a -10 to +12 dB ds level

I have bench tested a handull of modems and found their internal dB level meter varies up to 4 dB between models

I also seriously doubt the mfg's have taken in the nonlinearities of HFC networks which are Fiber to Coax hybrids...

Also, the resets seem to have cleared off the duplicate ch numbers on your modem
