local area connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration spectrum

Hello,

I just started my internet service with spectrum, and am getting this error 'local area connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration spectrum'.  All of the solutions that I have found require admin privledges, but I am trying to connect with my work computer and do not have admin. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It sounds like the LAN settings on your work computer are set to specific or static IP address.  You would need to change the LAN settings to "Automatic", that should resolve the issue.

If your work computer is set up to utilize a VLAN (to provide better information security), or has its IP address parameters locked, your corporate IT folks aren't going to let you have administrator priveleges.  You may have to acquire a separate computing device for personal use.  That's pretty much recommended  anyhow, so that you can keep your personal stuff away from their prying eyes.  You can easily find a refurbished off-lease laptop with Windows 10 Pro already installed for $300-$400.
