Re: Traffic congestion issue - Redlands - 92374 - Church/Pioneer area

TWC changed something, what's in the log?

Here's your original signal page, the channel ID's were changed in the CMTS

Channel ID
Frequency651000000 Hz 615000000 Hz 621000000 Hz 627000000 Hz
Signal to Noise Ratio38 dB 37 dB 37 dB 37 dB

the freq range-split of 614 to 656 is 42 mHz and slightly out of the SB6121's acceptabnce range

 and here's current ones:

Channel ID22 15 21 23
Frequency645000000 Hz 603000000 Hz 639000000 Hz 651000000 Hz

The freq range- split of 602-656 is 54 mHz well outside of SB6121 acceptance range

My opinion is the wider, the worst...

Re: Traffic congestion issue - Redlands - 92374 - Church/Pioneer area

The T4's were a total loss of the CMTS, bet TWC changed it's programming  nothing since 10 AM

lets see:

current is

CMTS-MAC=00:01:5c:6d:6a:64

and the same one on June 8th

CMTS-MAC=00:01:5c:6d:6a:64

same box, made by Cadant

You'll need to wait a week and see if you get IPv6 numbers in the DHCP weekly renew in the log...

They changed the Cadant I'm on 1+ months ago.

Also, see if you now have a new public IP, you would have had to write it down.

maybe you'll see that you're now in a "different city", TWC has the geolocation data all screwed up, I've been in "4 diofferent cities/towns" in the past year and lived here for 30 years, lol.

Re: Traffic congestion issue - Redlands - 92374 - Church/Pioneer area

nope my IP address is still the same I had since day one (over a year ago...).

Do you think if I switched to a SB6141 , my speed would be more consitstent during rush hour?

Re: Traffic congestion issue - Redlands - 92374 - Church/Pioneer area

I'd rent a TWC modem and see if that cures the problem, sometime this year spectrums supposed to drop the modem rental fees anyway.

Can you borrow a 6141 from someone that upgraded to a 16 ch?

Other option is to see if you can get this onto 4 channels next to each other and if that helps, Only way to do that is unplug it then check what channels after you repower it

Good luck explaining this and my theory to TWC, maybe they'll read my 8-16-24 channel post and take some action

They have plenty of obsolete 4 ch modems in service

thanks I will try to borrow a modem from them and see if things improve.

I will let you know here!

Re: Traffic congestion issue - Redlands - 92374 - Church/Pioneer area

So I got a new modem. Before unplugging the old one I took a snapshot of the settings and, surprise, surprise old modem now shows 4 consecutive channels 23,24,25,26....check the speed 55MB. That was at 4PM. Waited till later at night still a 40MB speed (acceptable). Right now(8.30PM) 50MB...2 days and I still cannot unplug the old modem because it is behaving PERFECTLY, LOL...

Waiting for the weekend I guess...

post the new signal level page

and yes, the 4x4 modems were designed before anyone thought there would be a need for more than 4 channels, Robot LOL
