Terrible

As far as my parents have had spectrum i feel they they have been given the run around. They have complained left and right and techs said everything is a ok but that's not the case. The speeds are incredibly slow unless right on top of modem. Here are the stats for their spectrum provided router/modem/voip device Arris TG1672G.

The signal level report you copied shows that all incoming channels are better than the minimum performance limits.  In fact they are the most ideal I have seen listed here in a long time.  I would LOVE to have that grade of service at my home! 

The Spectrum technical folks are absolutely correct that your parents' internet connection trouble is NOT caused by the cable network signal levels.  I think your last comment tells the whole story:  Devices being used have to be close to the gateway box because they are using WiFi, NOT a wired Ethernet connection.   Spectrum guarantees their connection speed ONLY to wired devices, because WiFi operates in a shared environment which is not something over which they have any sort of control. 

You did not indicate which internet performance tier your parents have subscribed to, but you can run a quick test to see what speeds are actually being delivered through the gateway box.

1  Connect a computer to any LAN port on the back of the gateway, using a standard CAT-5e cable;

2  Open up an internet browser window on the computer, and

3  Click on this link: https://www.spectrum.com/internet/speed-test-support-twc 

4  Click on START.  The software will measure and display the download and upload speeds of the connection.  Write down those numbers. 

5  Then to compare, shut down the computer, disconnect the ethernet cable and re-start the computer.  Now you are using WiFi.  Run the SpeedTest program again and record those speeds too. 

It is possible that the modem is not set up by Spectrum to deliver the fastest speed over WiFi.  Customer peers here on the forums can assist you in tweaking both the modem and router settings to get better data flow over WiFi than you had before.

I thought they claim using their equipment to your personal one.  Their's is guranteed faster..  That's what someone on the phone told me.  I really should be using their equipment instead of my own but from my parents view I see that as a false statement.

May want to double check how their devices are connecting wirelessly as well... what standard (N, AC) frequency (2.4/5), bonded channel width (20, 40, 80...), as well as the base channel number can all have different impact/limits on throughput.

For example, 2.4 N is sluggish for my Rokus... downstairs unit struggles to hold onto at least 39mbps. Even though the signal strength looks better on 2.4, it performs better on 5g AC (plus avoids the crap interference from the microwave).

Pretty much the only things on 2.4 or N are devices that don't support anything better or otherwise don't need the higher bandwidth.

If the router will allow you, change the SSID for each side so you can identify which is the 2.4 and 5g band so you can choose appropriately.

Nobody noticed the Corrected & Uncorrectable errors?  With an uptime of only 57 minutes?  Signal levels are good but there must be one heck of a lot of ingress interference.

Those errors are against millions of octets...

Likely it has been cycled, but not reset. Sometimes errors get registered during that restart cycle, but the counters may not reset unless you do an actual reset of the modem.

That was on a full reset.  I unplugged the modem for 2 minutes.  or should I have left it alone longer?  I'll try again tomorrow and see what the results are.
