TWC - Halo 5 - 343i

Does TWC and 343i have a timetable on the fix for this lag problem affecting countless players? This was posted directly on the halowaypoint.com forum.

"Thank you all for the detailed reports! They have been extremely useful to our investigation of this matter.

We’re are working directly with Time Warner Cable to investigate this issue. Please continue to provide the following information with your reports in this thread:

What region are you located in?
How often are you experiencing this? (Every game, every other game?)

- Does this happen multiple times per game?
Description of your experience (Warping, delayed bullet registration, walking into walls etc.)

- Xbox DVR video proof is also extremely helpful
Make / Model of your router Firmware version of your router ISP & Bandwidth speeds (Up / Down)

Any additional information you can provide about your network / internet connection would also be of great help.

Thank you,
The Forum Team"

I just purchased my 3nd modem (after leaving the TWC issued one behind), in hopes that it would fix my issue. I activated it today with TWC telephone support. Side note, I'm also on my 2nd router.

I mentioned my issues to customer support and told them, this is my last try at making this work. "If my neighbor with at&t can play halo 5 lag free, why should I stay with Time Warner?" He didn't have anything to offer in return.

I've spent hours on the phone with Time Warner and Microsoft support.

After 5pm CST, the lag gets worse and worse. It's not what I'm paying for.

I've posted numerous times on the waypoint forum looking for solutions and proposing possible fixes.

A rep on this forum had posted this on 8/29, two days after the game release...

"Good afternoon,

The issue with Halo 5 was identified yesterday. As you may find with your connection, customers are reporting an issue with connecting to the Microsoft dedicated servers. This issue was determined to be a Microsoft issue, not a TWC issue. I know it may sound like a "it's not us, it's them" answer, but in this case it we are seeing the servers are having trouble keeping up with the demand, which is causing the lagging. Customers reporting this issue are only having an issue with Halo 5."

Why is there still an issue? Why is this mostly a TWC subscriber problem?

There also was the 343i studio head who tweeted that TWC was classifying halo 5 traffic as peer to peer.

What is the exact issue? When will this be fixed? There's hundreds, likely thousands of us experiencing the same issue.

Re: TWC - Halo 5 - 343i

Peer to peer traffic is being investigated as copyright piracy and is monitored by the cable companies and FBI.

This is indeed a TWC problema transport ISP issue and one at Microsoft, all 3 parties are involved and refuse to work together for a solution. Also, read the Mlabs report and pay attention to the words "Business decision"...

it's around page 28 or so...

BTW, AT&T isn't properly mentioned, they too are capping TWC and Verizon backbone connections...

Another problem is that there are nsa fiber optic taps in Chicago that are requiring net traffic be slowed down to intercept traffic...

Re: TWC - Halo 5 - 343i

I can confirm that we are indeed working directly with 343 Industries, and we are aware of the post placed on their forums last night.  At this point we don't have a time frame for a resolution, but both parties have been in frequent communication.

We've been asked to post a request for our customers to please provide (if they haven't already to 343) the same information here on our community:

What region are you located in?

  • How often are you experiencing this? (Every game, every other game?)

- Does this happen multiple times per game?

  • Description of your experience (Warping, delayed bullet registration, walking into walls etc.)

- Xbox DVR video proof is also extremely helpful

  • Make / Model of your router

- Firmware version of your router

And to reiterate, any other information you can provide about network/connection would be appreciated.

What region are you located in?
Milwaukee, WI

How often are you experiencing this? (Every game, every other game?)
Rarely before 2pm CST. After 5pm, its at least every other game. It gets progressively worse the later I play.

- Does this happen multiple times per game?
It has yes. Sometimes it'll disappear and I'll go on a spree. During that time, the lag is being experienced by other uses.
Description of your experience (Warping, delayed registration, walking into walls etc.)

I've got a mix of warping, shots not registering, melees not registering, people walking into walls, entire teams walking right past me like i'm not in the game, getting "from the grave" kills (with the AR, BR, DMR, etc, not grenades) after being killed (and my hits should have taken them down). Also something new, getting first strikes (with the medal headshot medals), but no credit for the kill.

Make / Model of your router
Netgear Nighthawk R7000 with latest stock firmware. Previously asus RT-66U with latest stock firmware.
Zoom DOCSIS 2 provided by time warner initially, then Motorola Surfboard SB6141 Modem , now an arris SB6183

Firmware version of your router
Firmware VersionV1.0.5.48_1.1.79
ISP & Bandwidth speeds (Up / Down)
TWC 50/5

All my ports are opened and my xbox is setup to the highest QoS. I've had TWC inspect my physical wiring and exhausted all troubleshooting with their highest level support. I've been through all the steps via MS support online. I've gone through all the steps with Xbox support on twitter. There is no other major network traffic or streaming video occurring when this happens. I've been through every possible combo tweak and setting possible. Even directly plugged into the modem.
Using a wired cat6 connection and have tried multiple cables. I restart my modem and router before I play. I can hard restart and and clear my xbox cache with no difference. Halo 5 is the only game that I have any lag issue with on xbox one. Signals are good on the upstream and downstream side of every modem I have used.

Becomes apparently worse when:

I am in party chat
Anyone on my team is in their own party chat (while I and the rest of the players are in game chat)
Anytime I've been match made with players from other countries
It's after 2pm CST or anytime during the weekends

More clips for 343i and TWC. Posted three more earlier. Here's four more. Recorded over 15 today.

This last game dvr is 4 minutes long. This is what 8/10 games play like for me. If you're a developer or ISP, please watch this clip in its' entirety.

Again, 50/5 Internet connection. The fastest speed in the state if you're non-business. On my 3rd modem, 2nd router. I suppose I could say 2nd XBONE as well. Issue has persisted going from a 500GB original to an Elite 1TB

Re: TWC - Halo 5 - 343i

Just curious why I pay so much money and the darn game I wanna play (Halo 5) lags sooooo much from TMC!! Speed test show me at 30mbs which is more than enough speed and I'm lagging left and right on Xbox and my cell Phones. Why do I even keep this crusty service!!
