Re: TWC 230Mbps -(200Mb plan) ---> Spectrum 140Mbps (300 Mb plan)

regarding phone calls, the tech was on two different cell phones standing in front of the modem while diagnosing it.

Still one more visit scheduled to test a theory.

Yesterday...

Tech meter - direct to modem - 140Mbps, matching the computers.

Then he makes a 2nd phone call to double-check provisioning.  Not sure what is said but I saw the modem reset - then asked to connect laptop direct.  Get 280Mbps.

Next, connect modem back to N900 and restart both.  Back at 140Mbps.

Given the trouble with "codes" used on the DVR that initially didn't work, suspect provisioning on the modem was not correct until the very moment before we were instructed to connect the laptop.

So maybe the N900 that worked on TWC just doesn't like the Spectrum network - or it happened to get sick at the very moment they transitioned me to Spectrum.

Oh, and he replaced cable ends, added better splitter, removed other splitters.  Noise gone and signals acceptible.  Still shocking that I got 230Mbps with bad cables/splitters and all that noise when a TWC customer.

Lastly, near lotto odds, but maybe the N900 just happened to become sick on the same day I got switched over.  Have  new spare to test later.  Oh, and probably change a few critical cables from Cat5e to Cat6 just to say I did.

Is there a sticky post somewhere with nominal values for signal levels?

levels are "in spec" problem is that the correcteds and uncorrecteds are horrible and supposedly TWC doesn't look at them. On your modem, those numbers should be near zero.  retet the FEC counters to zero them out then check back in a couple hours to see if they still go up

Not sure how to reset those outside of power cycling the modem - which I did last night.  Then they were zero.  Most (except below) are either 0 or 1 for the past 15 hours.

I'll point out this info to the tech when he gets here.

Ingress there from Sprint phones and trunked business radio...  also different and more skipped channels., print the entire page to see what's changed

I never really looked at this before.  Presumably it's always been like this, and I still got perfect throughput with TWC.  Still have to test an alternate router though, since direct to the modem did pull 300 yesterday - up from 280 after replacing more cable/connectors.
