Re: SB6141 speed issue. DS Partial Service Fallback

Try the factory reset, maybe the update was corrupt.

Re: SB6141 speed issue. DS Partial Service Fallback

My wife did the factory reset earlier. Sorry I was not clear. That was what I meant by reset and reboot earlier. Those last set of errors were taken about 2 hours after the factory reset. I appreciate your assistance MsRaye! It is very frustrating.

Re: SB6141 speed issue. DS Partial Service Fallback

To do a factory reset on 6121,6141,6183's, you disconnect the coax and then the reset boxes should appear in the configuration tab.

Click on it and a message that it's going to reset in 10 seconds shows up, wait for lights to come back on after a minute, then pull power, reconnect the coax, reapply power, it will take the modem 5 minutes to reset/reload data, once US/DS go steady blue, go to the signal page copy and past the signal info here as well as the error log.

Hopefully it picked up 8 sequential channels (the first might be out of order, don't worry

After an hour if there's ingress, the aflicted channels either have grossly high correcteds and uncorrecteds or the channels are now missing and there will be RCS or DS partial  service errors.

If there's US issues, TCS partial service appears. and  or T3,4 errors.

Re: SB6141 speed issue. DS Partial Service Fallback

MsRaye - Thanks for the help! My wife had done the factory reset earlier on page one. Those results were posted. I had also purchased another modem earlier in the week. Spectrum was unable to activate the modem on Tuesday and said try back in a couple of days. The errors were still occurring on the old modem even after the factory reset.  Spectrum was able to activate (they said it was already active in the system from Tuesday) the modem yesterday and so far so good. No errors and the speed has been steady above 30 meg. Now my only concern is if they cut off the new modem by mistake since they may have both on the system.. Smiley Happy Thanks again for your help. It must have been a modem issue or at least that particular firmware did not like that modem. The new modem is a different brand.

Re: SB6141 speed issue. DS Partial Service Fallback

I've seen 6141 power supplies fail and one modem, otherwise they've been really stable, there's millions in service.

Only issue is that TWC is adding more channels and ALL the 4 and 8 channel modems can't handle the spread, they only have an acceptance bandwidth of 36 and 96 mHz.

They are all obsolete and were designed way back when there were only a few channels!

post the new modems signal level page, keep a copy for your records should things change.

Service still solid. No problems.

Re: SB6141 speed issue. DS Partial Service Fallback

My opinion is that there's too many correcteds but at least no uncorrecteds.

It still indicates a coaxial  issue somewhere between the head end and the modem.

This is called "throwing modems at a line issue" sometimes one will reject noise better than others.

See if the replacement starts acting up, line issues only get worst.
