Random Internet Issues

Every since I moved to Time Warner/Spectrum I've noticed a lot of weird issues with my internet, haven't been able to track it down. I loose speed after a few days have to reboot the cable modem. Here's what I have done so far.

Ran a new RG6 quad shielded cable from my internet is connected to my modem, less than 50ft, all in conduit. I have switched several modems, the Arris modem had more issues than the Ubee I currently have. When I tell tech support I have a lot of uncorrectables, they have no clue on what I'm talking about. Unfortunately in my area for High Speed Internet, they are only 2 choices, Frontier and Spectrum. Frontier is a lot worse than Spectrum. Spectrum's tech say everything is fine.

The issues I have been having are:

Speed dropping randomly upload speeds of less than 1mb. Constant rebooting of the modem, doesn't matter the type Arris or Ubee. Upload sporadically doesn't work, have to reset the modem to get upload to work. Also random drops off download even with only 1 device online.
The even weirder part is that speedtest.net always shows 88 up and 8 down.
One thing a tech mentioned is that I'm at the end of a loop, not sure of that has anything to do with it.
My stats, I reset my modem at 8pm Pacific last night.

Re: Random Internet Issues

Post some usefull info like the modems signal level, error log pages, the speed you pay for and what you get on the TWC speedtest link. Don't reset the modem, need to see real history

Rebooted the modem after the first one.

Re: Random Internet Issues

You have way too many correcteds and uncorrecteds Robot Sad

But since you're better than 80% of paid for 100/10 service with the

They're not going to fix it..

Or give you a modem that has the corrected/ uncorrected counters turned off...

Re: Random Internet Issues

Just curious, Ms. Raye..... after 87 days modem uptime, are your DS channels still consecutive?  Is TWC/Spectrum using more than 8 DS in your area?

Proven Sharer

Re: Random Internet Issues

Yes, in northeast Ohio TWC's DS Internet service occupies 16 consecutive channels, from 657 to 747 MHz in 6 MHz steps.  Some larger cities run 24, with the possibility of future expansion of 32 total to accomodate larger numbers of 100 Mbps subscribers.   Modems with only 8 DS channels obviously only get assigned that many if the CMTS is properly programmed.

Re: Random Internet Issues

...but 8 channel modems will switch to other channels if there is too much interference on any of the original 8 consecutive channels.  That's my question to Ms. Raye:  after 87 days, is she still on the original 8 consecutive channels as on day 1.

Re: Random Internet Issues

Yes, channel order is still the same, The home channel is not in order, that's not an issue... The channel with the higher than the rest uncorrectables is a local TV broadcat channel, suspect it's getting in on a neighbors crappy 10 year old connection on the tap off mines on. (it's a onnector Adelphia hasn't used for 7+ years and since TWC bought them out.

Good luck getting them to replace the egress ingress plagued connectors anywhere.

The issue is is the ingress that needs to be eliminated rather than swapping modems till one is found that deals with it better. , Spectrum/twc just won't spend the time or has the equipment to do so.
