If you want assistance from the forum contributor volunteers, you've got to give us a little bit to work with here!
We need to know the make and model of your present modem, please?
When you increased your speed to 200 Mbps, was your modem also changed?
What was your previous speed package in Mbps, and what model modem did you have before?
It is a Zoom 5341J DOCSIS3 compliant. Modem is rated at more than 343 MBPS .
Previously we had 100 MBPS from Spectrum.
We were told to turn everything off and shut it down--a hard reboot, then bring it back up--not change any settings on the modem.
Thank you.
I personally use that model of modem for my home internet sevice. Spectrum will only program it for speeds up to 100 Mbps, not any higher tiers like the 200 Mbps to which you thought you were being upgraded.
For anything over 100 you will need to replace it with a model that appears on Spectrum's list of modems approved for 200 Mbps, or rent one provided by Spectrum. Meanwhile I suggest you contact Spectrum about issuing you a credit for the price difference. This sales practice is what got them into so much trouble in New York State.
