Internet becomes unusable during peak times

Most nights around 8-9pm the internet will become unusable for unpredictable amounts of time. Doesn't appear to be an issue on our end.

I live in Port Washington, WI (53074)

Computer is directly connected to modem

The rest of the time the internet works perfectly fine at the speeds we pay forinternetspeed.png2 of the images are pinging iad.valve.net because I first noticed the issue while playing games connected to valve's US east server. It should be reliable enough to not doubt.

The third image is pinging to google and showing consistent spikes every ~3 seconds.

if you want me to run more tests I'll have to wait until I am spiking again, its very inconsistent.

Beginning nodes are already slow, so not a problem with valve.

Re: Internet becomes unusable during peak times

you have a coaxial issue , something is corroded or loose or there's open splitter ports. Way too many correcteds and uncorrecteds as well as skipped channels from broadcast TV ingress

Re: Internet becomes unusable during peak times

Thank you for the quick reply! I'll have to check our box in the morning to see if there is any obvious damage. If the line that runs under our driveway is damaged or the main for the street it will be a pain, but hopefully its after our box.

Re: Internet becomes unusable during peak times

Spectrum needs to send a tech out and verify there's not a coaxial issue. If it's out on the street somewhere, numerous customers will have errors, tie up bandwidth and of course, it's worst during prime time, especially uncorrectables that requir new packets thru the entire tracerted path to the server, like netflix... Correcteds are only a single retry to the cable head end where the CMTS server is, the first hop
