Re: DNS issues - Cleveland area?

Connection really went south tonight. I struggled mightily this evening to get anything working with any level of function. Websites took about a dozen attempts to come up and even then it was only partial.

Trace routes timed out during the first three hops. Outlook didn't fetch any emails.

I figured I'd try to reset the modem and router to see if I can get at least some functionality. Now the modem won't sync. I have an Arris SB6183. Green lights all cycle but never locks in sync with blue lights.

Just went from bad to stone age. =( Bad thing is my service visit isn't until next Friday afternoon.

Ugh.

Re: DNS issues - Cleveland area?

Everything working normal this morning.  DNS servers are responsive and sync has been re-established.

Phew!  Let's see if it lasts.  Thank you everyone for your advice and time!

Re: DNS issues - Cleveland area?

DNS in my area [SW Cle suburban] was messed up again Friday evening 2/10 from 1900 to 2330 when I gave up.  Back to normal at 0900 today.

Re: DNS issues - Cleveland area?

Well, it's a good thing that it appears to have been an issue that TWC was aware of.  Just seems like it took longer than usual for them to clear it up.  My modem reports are showing more errors than usual, given the time between the last modem reboot.  SNR on some of the channels are lower than my last status check.  Prior tests have only rendered 1-2 errors (all corrected) every week or so.

Re: DNS issues - Cleveland area?

you are showing  an ingress issue. Both 4 G cellular transmit sites and user handset pairs on Cleveland providers .

Also broadcast tv transmitters on ch 47-48-49

Something is loose or corroded.

Describe what's in the line between the street and the modem...

I'm working on a job in the area and can see if there's an egress issue... which is also where ingress occurs...

I also see you now have 16 channels.

Re: DNS issues - Cleveland area?

The cable from the pole drops to the side of the house, runs down the wall to a coaxial coupler, then about a 20 feet run before going into the house.

Once inside, the coax feeds to a F-Connector at the point of entry.  From there, there is a 6 foot run of coax from the f-connector to the modem.

There is definitely no corrosion on the f-connector at the entry wall.  Perhaps something at tahe pole or the coax coupler on the outside wall?

This is what it looks like tonight...

Re: DNS issues - Cleveland area?

None of the corrected increased, something was loose and possibly got tightened.
