Re: Constant intermittent DS Partial Service Fallback: MDD Lost errors

Rpost the levels a few hours later to see if the correcteds and uncorrecteds are still increasing or channels dropping oiut.....

I think all the levels are okay, Get the splice replaced with a grounding block and the pole tap connector replaced as well.

If you had +5 outside and 0 inside, there was 3.5 dB loss in the splitter and 2 dB loss in the line. With no splitter and just the new line, there's around 2 dB of loss, The splitter is probably not damaged, just shouldn't be there with an open port. You may have inadvertantly cleaned up corroded connections as well, that is if the correcteds and uncorrecteds stay low.

Sorry about the splitter loss confusion, I didn't realize you also added in the line loss.

Your main issue was probably the ingress and when the modem had that ch 30 on 633 mHz which was getting clobbered by your local tv ch 41 and causing the high uncorrectables.

it looks like there was ingress on a c ouple ch's 20-21 and modem reset.

Did you see a partial service error in the log?

Still think you have loose or corroded connections somewhere and twc needs to come out and replace connectors for a start.

Re: Constant intermittent DS Partial Service Fallback: MDD Lost errors

There were not any errors in the  logs when I posted the last signals. However, I have had two of those errors since that time.

Re: Constant intermittent DS Partial Service Fallback: MDD Lost errors

TWC came out today. First question he asked was what problems I was having. I told him that I had suspected ingress leakage and encountering DS Partial Service Fallback errors. He asked what kind of modem I had and I told him SB6141. He stated he sees many problems with those modems and it is due to the fact it is only 8 channels instead of 16 and the problem is most likely the modem having issues because it sees an extra 8 channels. I didn't buy this (didn't tell him so) but I did reiterate all the feedback in this post and even printed out and shared the first two paragraphs from the last post by  @agentx5 .

He replaced all connections at every point from the one connected at to the tap all the way to the one connected to my modem (including new connections on the new cable i just bought). At each point he was saying that "everything looks good." He also installed grounding block. He also commented that I should replace my EA4500 router as he has seen many problems with ones looking just like it.

He was very professional and courteous. He even gave me his cell phone number if I had further issues after he left. I am just not 100% confident in his knowledge. Nonetheless, all connections are replaced and the line is grounded. Hopefully the issue is resolved. Here is my new baseline:

Re: Constant intermittent DS Partial Service Fallback: MDD Lost errors

Broadcast tv Ch 29, Ch 31, Ch 36 &37 are ingressing the  modem.  IS this a white cased 6141?

Yes, white cased.

Here is my neighbor's diagnostics. He is connected to same tap. He has an SB6141.  Could he be the cause of the symptoms I am seeing or just also experiencing them. Looks like the same issue to me. Same skipped channels, same errors, etc.

Re: Constant intermittent DS Partial Service Fallback: MDD Lost errors

He's got low s/n on 555 mHz , probably from broadcast tv ch 28. And yes, skipped-missing channels as well. might be ch's 29-32...

TWC needs to clean up the pole tap you two are on... connections are probably broken.. Can you get a photo of it?
