I was considering buying the Arris SBG7580-AC when I was informed that this modem has been replaced by a newer version Arris SBG7600-AC. This newer version is not on the list of approved modems. In fact, some of the modems on the list are very old, outdated, no longer receive firmware updates or aren’t even for sale anymore.
Does anyone have the SBG7600-AC? Is it working with Spectrum?

The published list includes the modems that Spectrum has evaluated and found performance to be acceptable, with no impact to other modems operating on their network. It's a long and costly process, so they don't check out each new model from every distributor. The list also includes a "Minimally Acceptable" category for units that have known defects but do not harm anyone else using Spectrum internet.
The phrase you quoted from a modem supplier, "no longer receive(s) firmware updates," often means the unit doesn't consistently exhibit the alleged problem when used on a specific network, or that its operating code is not susceptible to recent security attacks de jour. Therefore the maker isn't going to spend their time and money writing a new code release to modify their units and provide it free of charge to Spectrum.
In short, for tech support from Spectrum, buy a modem unit that is approved for at least your current speed tier of interest. Forum contributors usually suggest using a separate router, so that you have control of your own home network and WiFi performance.
There's 2 Spectrum modem lists:
and this one:
It doesn't appear on either listing, so your best bet would be to contact Spectrum either via chat or telephone and ask them.
The sbg7600ac2 (same as sbg7600ac?) has a intel puma 6 chipset which causes latency spikes. Do not buy the ac2 model, and perhaps even the ac model.
