What's up?

The broadcaster determines when and how long a show stays up On Demand.  Times can range from a month to many, many months.  New content, generally goes up the day after, up to a week after original broadcast.  That is all determined by the networks.

I can go to NBC.com and watch recent episodes of Chicago Fire on my laptop.

I can go to the NBC app and watch recent episodes on my phone.

Yet NBC refuses to provide current "on demand" content to Spectrum?

I don't believe you.

All things being equal, networks would rather you access their content from their own websites and apps. This allows them to have better ad rates due to the higher traffic...and they are able to advertise their other content to their hearts desire to the exclusion of the other networks. Yes, they benefit from a cable customer using On Demand, but I bet not as much as that same cable customer using the network portal directly.
