90 minute outage

There was a 90 minute outage of all TWC service in my area (Cazenovia, NY 13035) this evening between 6:30 and 8:00. I live in an apartment building with many elderly tenants, and many of them do not have cell phones.

This represents a potential public health issue. Even if these people have "health alert" pendants or other means of alerting 911 for health emergencies, these generally rely on landline phone service.

If TWC has redundant systems in place, they were not evident this evening. If they do not have fall-back systems, they need to seriously think about that.

I apologize for the issues. Things can happen at anytime and we do not have any kind of backup for our services. We can certainly pass your feedback along.

There are none and no way of preventiong a downed line or power fail....

This is the same as your wireline phone....

Just to expand on that, any old cell phone will work for that purpose.  No service is required.

As long as a cell phone can get a signal, even if there is no paid service, it can be used to call 911 in an emergancy.
