Re: Emergency Alert Broadcast- Weekly Tests!!!!

Thank you for this very good information- but the leg work shouldn't be our responsibility. TWC should be handling it.

Re: Emergency Alert Broadcast- Weekly Tests!!!!

Last night 15 alerts occured between 8-11pm. This rendered it impossible to watch tv.  This is very annoying and is happening more frequently.  I began to notice the alerts about 2 weeks ago ... and every since the alerts have been occuring frequently (not weekly...more like every other day).... when will this be fixed????

TWC customers can get this resolved fastest by putting this issue on SOCIAL MEDIA and let the world know how TWC treats its paying customers, even with a ROKU.

They will do everything to get us to pay for those cheap cable boxes INCLUDING: adding the EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM in rotation 20 times over. We are too smart for those tactics.

Time Warner Cable AKA "spectrum" we are watching you too.  FIX IT NOW!

Re: Emergency Alert Broadcast- Weekly Tests!!!!

It list the issue as solved, but I see nothing that backs that up...

Re: Emergency Alert Broadcast- Weekly Tests!!!!

Has anyone mentioned in all of this nonsense how UTTERLY RIDICULOUS this "planned testing" is to have happen after midnight when people are either in bed, going to bed, or perhaps some family members sleeping - this $%()**& baloney wakes up the whole house, makes the dogs bark - there is no excuse for something to be PLANNED like this!

Re: Emergency Alert Broadcast- Weekly Tests!!!!

I am experiencing the exact same issue for the last five days. I am in California and it says the alerts are in New York and Kentucky. They have been occurring every 15 to 20 minutes regularly. I actually switch the Roku off last night and just put a DVD on repeat so I didn't have to keep waking up every time the alert went off. Half of the time the Roku would re tune that channel but half the time not and I would wake up to a black screen with nothing on it. Obviously this is happening to multiple people why TWC not addressing this? I also I'm curious why this thread is marked as "solved" yet all 10 pages contain no solution that I could see.

I received a call from a TWC representative this morning. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and pleasant. They have identified the issue and are working on correcting it. It does require a configuration change on the TWC side within all the regional areas so it may take a little bit to get to all of them. I’m just glad it has been identified and a fix is in our near future.

Also as a note, There is a National EAS test (required by FCC) that they will need to do starting Wednesday September 28. I believe this was fallout from their preparation that has caused all our issues.

Re: Emergency Alert Broadcast- Weekly Tests!!!!

I'm confused because the solution box is checked but the issue continues in the Cincinnati OH area. I fall asleep with the tv on and it is frightening to wake up to the alert and then have it go off every few minutes.

Re: Emergency Alert Broadcast- Weekly Tests!!!!

I had called Customer Service and they opened a specific Issue for my Account (not a system wide issue at that time) before the Admin here indicated they were on it.  I've had the streaming on constantly for over 24 hours with no tests.

I suppose they could have:

  1. Done something specifically for my account; or
  2. Done something specifically for my region; or
  3. Taken the whole notification system out of service while being fixed.

But I'm sitting at a full 36 hours or so without the Air Raid Sirens and it's wonderful.

Hope it gets finalized for everyone soon.

Re: Non-stop Emergency tests from all over the country.

This is marked as solved, but "We are working on this issue" does not equal 'solved.' Just sayin. I have c/o this problem on numerous occasions. Sometimes they say it is out of their control. Other times they say they fixed it and change will take effect in a couple days. Just today they transferred me to a specialist, supposedly, but all I got was....leave a msg for TWC security. ??
I am a night owl. The obnoxious heart attack inducing sound comes on week days btwn 1 and 4ish am. The other day, it came on 3 times in one day! Most of the time, it is for other counties. I used to sleep with sleep timer, but now I literally watch with my remote pointed to TV and my finger on the ready above the mute button. That's just pure nonsense. Sometimes I mute it with CC. Defeats the entire purpose of a sleep timer. I have a strong suspicion that although TWC has said it is out of their control, it in fact IS in their control. At least somewhat. It comes on at least once every day of the week w/o fail. Contacting FCC seems like a good idea b/c it is infringing on our rights to peace. I understand if the tests have to be done, but no way do they have to be done so often. If others do what I do (muting) then the warning is completely useless in re: to safety.
One year, for a little while, just the red flashing words came on. I was cool with that and I believe it would serve its purpose. Why did the grating sound come back?!?!
