Are there any guidelines for setting room temperature to ensure that the motion detectors will function properly? When I leave my home (in hot SoCal) for extended periods I want to set my thermostats at 86+ degrees to save energy. Would that be an issue?

Depends on how warm the room get's to body temperature, but even then, the detector looks for a sudden temperature change.

So as the room temperature gets closer to external body temperature (91 to 93) the detector would become less reliable. I'm wondering at what room temperature that issue would kick-in.
