4K service availability

I see that Comcast and DirecTV are broadcasting the Olympic games in 4K. I wanted to know if Charter Communications is going to start 4K cabable set top boxes and channels. Before sombody says their is limited programs in 4K remember HDTV started off the same way.

Re: 4K service availability

go to the olympic NBC site and log on with your twc/spectrum ID. Or put an antenna on your tv for your local NBC afffiliate.

DirecTv and Dish have some 4k gear, cable co's can't do it via coax qam channels, they would need to be IPtv

It will be a cold day in hell before we see cable companies launch 4K due to them having to switch to IPTV delivery from QAM which would require new equipment and changes at the cable plant.

Maybe once they get the cloud based DVR's working...

None of the cable boxes have docsis 3.1 in them yet

None of the 4k smart tv's help much either, it's a joke on any screen smaller than a 40"
