Volume Not Following Remote

I'm setup with a Optical cable from an  Arris cable box to an audio mixer and an HDMI to the TV screen.     Everything works, but I can't get the audio volume to go up and down --

I swapped over to the cable box for my audio, went into settings on the RC122 remote and changed the output of the box to PCM and Variable.  The  "Green" volume bar on the TV goes up and down,  but the volume doesn't change.  The "Mute" on the remote works.   Anyone know why and how to fix it?

Hi,

Some boxes have issues with audio mixers and sound bars.  For best results, you should disconnect your audio mixer/sound bar and watch through the TV.  If the Mute button and Volume button work, but the volume is not physically going up and down, I would look at external hardware as the culprit.  Especially since you have swapped boxes, and the issue remains.

yes, you must connect the audio amp to the TV's stereo  audio, optical or ARC output, not the cable box.
