Sluggish Controller

Just upgraded to spectrum 201 box. Box is very sluggish repsonding to controller. Need to hold down button for a bit before box responds. Need to push button several times before box responds. New batteries in controller. Controller is UR5U-8780L-TWM

If the lights in the remote are strong and responsive to commands, you may have a signal problem or box problem, not a remote problem.

 

First thing to do is contact Spectrum for a signal and drop line test.  You will need to avoid resetting any boxes, modems, or routers for six hours prior to your service call. Reboots of any equipment will reset your error codes to zero.  This test is important because the tech needs to see your signal levels.  Equipment swaps will not solve bad signal issues.

 

Do you have the New Spectrum Guide?  There have also been some issues with the new Guide.  If your signals are good, you may want to ask the tech for a box with a clock on it.  Try to get a Cisco/Techicolor, or Arris model..  These boxes have a different guide on them, and if your signals are good, your box should respond faster.  Just don't get an SA model box (The silver ones.)  They are old, slow, and about fifteen years out of date!
