Cisco 9865 DVR Not Always Recording Programs

My Cisco 9865 DVR is not always recording my programs.  Is this a hardrive problem that is not fixable?  Should I get a new cable box from Spectrum?

You have a top of the line box.  I would start by looking at the Recording Log in the DVR list and post back the reason in the DVR Manager List why shows are not being recorded.  Also, please in addition to the error message, give us the number in parenthesis.  If the message says, "Channel was Not Available." this is NOT a box problem.  But an issue known as an SDV conflict. ("Switched Digital Video) where too many people in your node happened to watch the show at the same time, and the number of "slots" on Spectrum's Network was not enough to process the recording.  From time to time, SDV channels are used to provide more channel options for systems with limited bandwidth.  But there are a number of factors involved.

 

Next, would be a signal test.  If you have Internet Service, avoid resetting your box, modem, or router for at least six hours and copy/paste your signals from your modem.  Ms. Raye is our signal data specialist and will be able to examine the output codes to determine if you have ingress (noise) on your cable lines.  If she finds signals that are in negative range, you should contact Spectrum for a Signal and drop line test.

 

Try not to get a different box.  Spectrum is no longer providing six-tuner DVR's on the tech trucks.  With that in mind, you will be forced to go back to a two-tuner DVR if they swap it out.  The Cisco 9865 is a six-tuner box.  A new four-tuner World box is offered in some markets, but you may get stuck with a DVR downgrade if you swap out the box.  Some offices MAY still have a six-tuner DVR in stock, but it is a hassle to go there to find out.  The counter reps may or may not be helpful and the inventory changes regularly.

verify all connectors are tight and no extra splitters/ empty ports in the house.

Hold in select for 10 seconds then hit the up arrow, what are the IB and OOB freq's, levels and s/n?
