Landline phone just stopped working. Purchased new phone and same problem exists.

Summer of problems with equipment.  First, no internet.  Purchased new Airport and back in business.  Now no landline.  New phone works as an intercom system but no outside line.  Phone message says "Check tel line".  Could it be a bad modem (with respect to the phone connection)?  How can you check the modem?

Hello,

You need to reboot your modem and your router.  If the phone does not work, a service call will be needed.  Avoid resetting your boxes, modems, or routers for six hours prior to your service call because resets will set your signal error codes to zero and the tech needs to see that. On your modem/router equipment, do you rent from Spectrum or do you own them?

Modem is leased but we own Airport router.

Forgot to mention that we have re-booted and re-started with no luck.  How do you know if the modem is bad?

One other bit of info - the incoming calls appear on the television but the phone doesn't ring and the telephone indicates that the line isn't working.

Greetings,

You need a service call to check your phone line and equipment,

Remember, don't reboot any equipment for six hours prior to your appointment so that the tech can read the error code levels on the line.  Post back after your appointment letting us know what happens.
