Lack of adequate email password security?!!

What is TWC doing to protect customers' email passwords during message retrieval and sending? I have tried to configure email clients to use secure password transmission, but TWC's servers reject all protected modes.

this leaves customers' communications wide open to interception. This lack of security is deplorable.

If you are not running over a VPN tunnel, your communications are open to interception anyhow.  Protecting just the email password by itself does not constitute message security.

Agreed. Absolute security aside, TWC's not providing secure password transmission leaves the door wide open.

The lack of security is bad enough, but not providing information to customers so they can improve their security and privacy is deplorable.

Not to minimize your complaint, but "security through obscurity" is a low cost philosophy that apparently appeals to Spectrum's management - 'We won't talk about this openly.   Users who already  know better IT methods will find their own fix.'

Probably sad but true.  In light of growing attention to inadequate security practices, it sounds like a spotlight should illuminate Spectrums' practices and apply pressure to clean up their act.

Suggesting customers should accept poor quality services for their payments is not an acceptable answer. It sound like control of the market has become too consolidated and consumers have little choice but  to "shut up and take it".

Spectrum Internet subscribers are not required to use the free RoadRunner email.  You can continue to use any of dozens of 3rd party email providers, and many (most) Spectrum Internet subscribers do exactly that, for a variety of reasons including the one that currently upsets you.
