Email from yahoo.com to TWC accounts rejected by TWC

My son has been having problems sending me email from his Yahoo account to my TWC accounts (2).  Most of the time they go through but sometimes they are rejected, for hours or even days.  There is no problem sending to him.

He replied to 1 of my emails today about 11 am EDT.  Then he replied to 2 of them at about 1 PM EDT. Both were rejected and returned to him. Then i sent him a test email at about 1:30 and he was able to reply. This problem has been intermittent for the last year, sometimes disappearing for months, then returning.

I asked him to forward the messages to me, but they were also rejected. He had to send them to my Outlook email instead.

When I send from my Yahoo account to my TWC account it takes 5-8 minutes to arrive online at TWC/Spectrum. It takes even longer to be picked up by my Microsoft Outlook software using IMAP.

What's the problem between Yahoo and TWC/Spectrum?

Hello,

The problem is the age of the TWC/Roadrunner Email technology.  Now over fifteen years old.  Cable providers were never intended to be email providers, nor Dish, nor U-Verse for that matter.

Your son has a great convenience in using a Web Mail account.  Yahoo Mail, Outlook.com, and Gmail are all examples of Web Mail accounts,  Accessible from any computer or mobile device with a web browser and Internet connection, Web Mail goes with you and stays with you for the rest of your life.  Think about this,  If you were to drop your TWC/Spectrum Internet service tomorrow, you would lose ALL of your email on that ancient Road Runner account.  There are no future plans to update RoadRunner.  It's a grandfather claused feature left over from the TWC days.  Because it's no longer supported, that is exactly why you are having the above problems.

Switch to Gmail, Outlook.com, or Yahoo Mail like your son has done.  Put your Roadrunner contacts in there.  Make sure to also get an adblocker to block out banner ads in web mail for each of your browsers.  Only one blocker per browser if you don't already have one.  I recommend Ad Block Plus.

Re: Email from yahoo.com to TWC accounts rejected by TWC

Hi Satch, thanks for the reply.  Gee, I didn't know each update to my comments would result in a new post. Sorry about all the repetition.

I have an Outlook account, converted from the old hotmail, gmail and a Yahoo account. I also use adblock plus.  I also block some domains on my router, preventing a lot of advertising.  I have had issues with trying to register at some web sites using Yahoo, Outlook and Hotmail. All were rejected, I had to use my TWC.com account, which I don't like to use for site registrations. I can access TWC the same way as I do Outlook, from any web browser or my smart phone. I use MS Outlook on my laptop to pull email from all the accounts except Yahoo and I can archive them, so if TWC goes dark I have all my old emails.

I don't have the issue, my son does :-)    He says he's had his account for many years and won't change it. I've told him to send to my Outlook account instead of the TWC.com account.  It doesn't make sense that just his Yahoo account is rejected but the others don't email me as often. I can even email from my own Yahoo account without issues. There is no explanation for the rejection in the TWC message.

When Spectrum took over TWC they said they were going to change all of the email accounts, but that's been a long time ago. It doesn't look like they are going to. I hate to switch emails because it has become so entwined in my life. I get 99% of my bills by email so I can pay them when I travel. Changing accounts would mean going to each of them an changing, also notifying all of our doctors, lawyer, church and many other places. It's not so easy anymore.  :-(
