Re: modem signals

well when i play games i lag sometimes like freezes and my ping rises and i did a dslreports test my speed is fine but i did a puma 6 test and im getting all yellow with some red spaces.

Also should my frequency be that low thank you.

Re: modem signals

Are you playing games via wifi? The signals looks good actually.

Re: modem signals

Since you are seeing lots of yellow and red while running the 'Puma6 test,' your modem is almost guaranteed to be the cause of those random delays.  If it was provided to you by Spectrum, have them replace it with one that does NOT use the Puma6 chipset.  Or if you bought the TC8717 unit yourself, head off to your favorite consumer electronics palace and pony up some bucks for a replacement modem that is supported by Spectrum at a faster speed tier than what you subscribe to right now.

My second suggestion is to also buy a CAT-5e ethernet cable on the same trip and connect your computer directly into the modem, instead of relying on WiFi.

Re: modem signals

The Technicolor 8717 is not a Puma6 modem. It uses Broadcom.

Re: modem signals

I  agree that it has used Broadcom since 2014 (not exactly a new box design), yet the writer's trusted Puma6 testing program is identifying significant ping delays.  Maybe a different modem software testing app would produce more accurate results?  Maybe it would even print large enough to read when pasted into a message window here?

@LDIMICK

Your operating DS and US channel frequencies are assigned by Spectrum each time the modem resets.  You can assume they are correct; otherwise you would not get an internet connection.

Sorry I misread your post...that DSL Reports Puma6 test is far from ironclad.
