** Update after Tech Visit ** Are these normal results for CM status?

Greetings.

I noticed that channel 1 is not bonded, and 2-8 not used. Also when calling Spectrum I have been getting conflicting information.  Also only 4 of 8 upload channels are getting used.

cm1.png

I have a Arris SB8200 32x8 Are my upload or download levels within the range they should be.  Some are saying the power is almost too high for download and too low to almost bad for upload. Others have said its just a little to high. It really depends on who I talk to.

Also My modem is getting Docsis 3.1 in download and 3.0 for upload. Not sure what is going on with that but a representative from Arris said this was "weird".

When asking Speectrum about the channels, i was told 32 channels are available and they are not sure what is going on with mine. ACK! It seems to be a lottery of answers when I call. Hopefully someone can help me with some straight answers here onthe forum.

My speed is good, but working from home i seem to be getting kicked off my vpn several times a day. I need to rule out my conncetion before complaining to IT department more. I used to have no problems with my older 100x10 with Ubee modem. Now since upgrading to the 400x20 I have had this problem.

I replaced the specrturm Arris modem due to the Puma 6 chip, and bought the 8200. I do not use the Sagemcom 5200 from spectrum. I use Apple Airport Time Capsule, and have also tried a Linksys EA6500. Both offer similar results with the Apple coming in a bit better for performance.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: Are these normal results for CM status?

You have a coaxial issue and need Spectrum out.

The bottom "other" ch should have a frequency and not all those correcteds.

The other channels are severely rolling off.

Best I see, you're running the bonded docsis channels and not the docsis 3.1 192 mHz odfm channel.

This may be wet line, there's way too much rolloff from the lowest to highest frequency, may be a bad amplifier, as the US level isn't in the normal +35 to +9 dBmv range

+8 dBmv is ok, but the max to the highest channel shopuld only be a 3 dB difference.

Could also be RG59 coax...

Re: Are these normal results for CM status?

This is not a long log as I just factory reset my modem a few minutes ago after reading this helped someone. However my situation is exactly ther same after reset. However it seems very similar to what I have sen in the past.

Those corrected are after a few minutes of uptime. Usually when I check ths status it is several thouseand.

Nothing abnormal in the log.... needed to see it before it was reset...Woman Mad

Let this run for 4 hours, see if there's any new log entries, if so, post them

Post the signal level page as well.

Looks like another case of a poorly thought out by Spectrum 1 gig upgrade.... the inhouse and street issues need to be repaired.

Re: Are these normal results for CM status?

OK, thank you. As far as I know these are the only things I have seen in the log since owning it for a few days now. I will however check again in a few hours.

Was this the other information you wanted to see?

Re: Are these normal results for CM status?

Are you getting anything in that bottom #1  "other" channel for freq or s/n  level? "other"  I'll bet the 192 mHz width it uses is all rolled off and unuseable.

"other" indicates it's 3.1 the  freq might be 771 mHz  add 192 = 963 mHz and probably really low, unuseable levels...

How old is the coax outside?

What speed do you pay for/ get?

Any ads for 1 gig svc?

 What's the zip code?

This building is about 35 years old. The wiring in the walls I assume is original.  The wiring to the building is unknown to me. It could be newer.

The Channel 1 is always other and not locked.

I pay for 400x20 and get ~475 x ~22

1Gig is available at my location.

Re: Are these normal results for CM status?

APT bldg? Good luck... Bet it's rg59 or has an amp not designed to go over 700 mHz....

See if others in the buillding are having issues, have them get Spectrum out.

apt bldings are horrible, can't replace coax if internal, might need an outside run

You won't ever get 1 gig as this is bad:

1Not LockedOther0 Hz0.0 dBmV39.8 dB1260

If they are pushing your 400 service as a docsis 3.0 , it's probably working with errors, they could also run 3.1 on the bottom ch and it will error out a lot.

US may only be docsis 3 as They need to replace a lot of outside plant to make it 8 US channels.
