Honestly, my guess is that these level 1 techs at Spectrum are only script readers and guess and reset your modem 95% of the time and hope that fixes why you call them.

This is an absolutely true statement.

It's not fixed.... it is a coaxial side issue of some sort...

It's why we need to see thesignal and error/event log without a pile of resets...

MsRaye, thank you for your continued willingness to help me with this.  It happened again last night where my PS4 controller started having all the interference issues.  I kept playing for 10 more minutes and then quit.  Without doing any sort of router reset, i went in and grabbed the values from the router.

Downstream and upstream values:

Downstream Bonded Channels
Channel Lock Status Modulation Channel ID Frequency Power SNR Correctables Uncorrectables
1    QAM256   471000000 Hz 1.9 dBmV 44.2 dB  6 0
2    QAM256   465000000 Hz 1.6 dBmV 44.1 dB  15 0
3    QAM256   477000000 Hz 2.0 dBmV 44.4 dB  4 0
4    QAM256   483000000 Hz 1.7 dBmV 44.1 dB  8 0
5    QAM256   489000000 Hz 1.4 dBmV 43.9 dB  5 0
6    QAM256   495000000 Hz 1.4 dBmV 43.9 dB  3 0
7    QAM256   501000000 Hz 1.0 dBmV 43.5 dB  7 0

Upstream Bonded Channels

4    TDMA   2560 Ksym/sec   19000000 Hz 37.8 dBmV

Here are the only logs i could find....both of these times below correspond to when the interference took place.   I know these reference my PS4 since the Primary and secondary DNS that i show in my PS4 settings are listed below (209.18.47.61 & 209.18.47.62):

Description   Count  Last Occurence  Target   Source

TCP- or UDP-based Port Scan  4970   Tue Mar 28 19:57:25 2017    24.28.19.187:48850   209.18.47.61:53
TCP- or UDP-based Port Scan  511   Tue Mar 28 20:44:16 2017    24.28.19.187:64234   209.18.47.62:53

I don't know if any of this points to anything, but i have Spectrum coming tomorrow at 5 so anything you could tell me to have the tech check/replace/fix would be appreciated.

Lastly, when would Spectrum contact a modem/routers manufacturer (UBEE) if they cant figure something out......does that ever even happen?

Have them replace the Ubee with a Technicolor.

At least it has a log.

Your correcteds are really low but they may have been reset, without a log or total bytes we can't tell how long before you grabbed the m...

Ok, well i grabbed those values down like 10 minutes after the issue started again that night, so as far as i can tell, there was no reset done from the time the issue happened, to the time i took down the log entries.

They're coming tonite, so i will ask the tech to give me a Technicolor router instead and hope for the best.  Do the techs always carry both router models in their trucks?

One other thing i just realized....the interference issue tends to happen when there are many devices connected WIFI.  If im the only one home at night playing, or theres 2-3 other things using the WIFI when i'm playing, i dont see the issue.  I'm wondering if its a case of the router just not being able to handle too many devices before something screws up internally.  I have the 100MB plan, so its not like i'm stressing it to death.

It is quite possible that you have too many WiFi devices contending for bandwidth, especially at 2.4 GHz.  And 100 Mb can quickly be filled if you have ANY unit running a file or synchronization or archiving application such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or numerous Apple software apps.  HD video streaming will also chew up lots of bandwidth for long intervals before allowing any other devices to communicate on a 2.4 GHz channel.   5 GHz operates at higher speeds, allowing faster and smoother transmission of data.  Most wireless printers are 2.4 GHz only which really drags down the performance of a WiFi network any time your printer is powered up.

Re: Ubee Spectrum WIFI Router Causing PS4 Pro Dualshock 4 Controller Issues

Ok, so the Spectrum tech was really cool and did alot for me. He changed the line from the pole to my apt, reran the line to my connector and took it off the splitter it was on before and made it a direct connection, and he swapped my ubee router for a technicolor one!!! Right off the bat, i love the technicolors interface in the router menu....so easy to use and a ton of good log info if i need it.

Fingers crossed, so far the technicolor router is working great!! He thinks that based on my issue and my other weird connectivity quirks my old router had that there was something wrong with the ubee router. So fingers crossed and hopefully
im cured lol. I'll come back and update
this post in a few days with the outcome.

Ok, so since it's been a couple weeks i wanted to post one final update.

Since the Spectrum tech coming out and replacing the crappy UBEE router with the Technicolor one, i've had ZERO issues at all with my PS4 controller having horrible interference, and i've played alot at different times of the day, over many days.

I'm assuming if enough people complained about this issue that Spectrum would have UBEE research further and no doubt fix it via a router firmware update, but for the time being, if anyone else has this weird issue, the fix is to get a different Router/Modem model.  In my case, it was getting rid of the UBEE all in one router, and having them give me the Technicolor all in one instead.

Thanks again to MsRaye and everyone else for their help!!!

Sounds like the Ubee modem had a non-FCC complaint defect.

I'll keep this topic in mind in case I see any such similar issues for the customers i work with.

About a year ago I encounter an issue with a customer's RadioShack brand 5.8 GHz wireless house phone that was causing issues with the 5.0 GHz WiFi and you could hear the WiFi's pulse-transmissions faintly though the receiver handset.  Bizzare but turning off the 5.0 GHz antenna definitely proved that the two were overlapping when they shouldn't.

This is why I'm more of a fan of wired, but then again it would be unthinkable in many cases to go back to wired solutions.  Wireless is just too damned convenient Smiley Very Happy !

Glad you got this resolved
