Rookie

Speeds are 10/10 instead of 100/10 (after months of working fine).

I'm located in Akron, Ohio 44314 in a Single Family Home. I only have 100/10 internet service from TWC/Spectrum. I'm using an Arris SB6141 modem:

Model Name: SB6141
Vendor Name: ARRIS Group, Inc.
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.7.0-SCM00-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3
Hardware Version: 7.0
Serial Number: 374781234225733309020022
Firmware Build Time: Jul 22 2016 08:13:57

and a Nighthawk R8500 Router.

For the past week or so I've only been able to get speeds of about 10/10 after a few months of getting 100/10 without issue. I only have the wire running into the house from the pole, through a grounding block, and directly to my modem. No splits. I called into customer care that said they're seeing 'poor signals' and sent a tech. The tech showed up and said that he didn't see anything wrong and left (despite showing him the speeds are not what I pay for).

Another tech is scheduled to come back out on Thursday after I called back and complained. What do I need to tell them to make sure they deal with the issue and get my internet speeds back to where they were? There were no changes to my network or servies from the time my speeds worked and didn't work.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Speeds are 10/10 instead of 100/10 (after months of working fine).

You have a corroded or loose connector or open splitter ports allowing ingres from broadcast tv ch's 47,49,50 and 4G cellular

681,687, 693 are all impaired and why yopu're having major slowdowns...

@MsRaye I appreciate the quick response and I'll be sure to share it with the Tech Thursday morning to hopefully get a "speedy" fix to this.

Re: Speeds are 10/10 instead of 100/10 (after months of working fine).

print out the signal level page, the low s/n and high correcteds are a dead giveaway.

WEAO is on 687 ch50 and WDLI is on 681 ch 49 ... 699 on up is 4G LTE, the subscriber handset transmit freq's.

This is probably badly corroded or rodent chewed coax overhead..

Also, for no splitters, your Upstream is on the high side.

it points to an oxidised center wire in a connector or the outside grounding block or up at the pole tapoff, I'll bet there's an internet only filter out there...

Re: Speeds are 10/10 instead of 100/10 (after months of working fine).

Tech came out and took one look at the cable coming into my house and said, "This thing looks old. Let's run a new one." He wasn't wrong, the drop was at least 9 years old. New levels look better and speed is back. Thanks for your help @MsRaye
