Re: Reseting modem and router several times per day.

I decided to run a new line from box on outside of my house to room where modem is. I discovered it was all old coax 59 and there are spliters in middle up in attic. I used RG6 cable and will not use a wall plate connector. I will let tech put connectors on both ends of new cable. Wanted to get rid of Dish sat. cables anyway and make box a little neater.

Checked modem status this morning and channel one gone with power levels slowly climbing. Now at 45 to 46 up from 42 to 43. Lots of corrected and uncorrected errors. Still can use internet.

Did get 2 new event log entries:

Wow! what a difference the new cable made in signal levels. Here are the numbers since using the dirrect RG6 quad shielded cable with no barrel connectors or splitters in the middle:

Most of the noise problem was in the coax in my house.

Re: Reseting modem and router several times per day.

I'd make sure all connectors are a tad more than finger tight, see if the correcteds jump up in 8-24 hours by a lot or on specific channels

rg 59 is,t too good above 500 mHz in long lengths, short lengths of the foil with braid are ok provided compression, not crimped connectors are used.

Your levels appear typical for a long run now. The US level is now lower with a lot better headroom , it was probably the splitter or oxidisedcenter wire causing loss

Re: Reseting modem and router several times per day.

I checked just now and there have been no new errors in the event log since Friday and levels seem to be staying steady and in good range. Have not had to reset modem or router. I think between replacing the coax in attic and whatever Spectrum replaced at the street, problem is resolved. Here are current numbers:

Re: Reseting modem and router several times per day.

You're only getting a few correcteds per channel a day which is pretty good.  No channels are really high, so it appears to be 95% fixed. There's probably an issue on the street somewhere that they're not going to troubleshoot to find or fix it unless it gets a lot worst.

Re: Reseting modem and router several times per day.

They won't do anything about them....

That looks like broadband noise from a bad amplifier or connection before an amplifier out on thestreet somewhere as it's affecting all channels. It's probably something below 507 mHz as it's worst there than at 645 mHz, maybe the cable TV  fiber frequencies below 500 mhz...
