if you use a sony ps4 over wifi - you need to wire it or investigate if your router is compatible with a recent update.
poor charter is taking a ton of trouble calls of people incorrectly assuming their isp is at fault.
symptoms of this problem is a sudden spike of latency to 200ms and 90% drop in download speed. resetting your modem alone is not enough - you must reset your router (or whatever pc or other device is connected to your modem's ethernet port) as well for your isp connection to fully stabilize.
Possibly related to the last Netgear patch as well... They had NTS issues and turned off the heartbeat IP, then refused to repair/replace/update customer routers... It affected short DHCP leased devices like wireless ones the most.
It was supposedly corrected last spring...
That is some VERY helpful information!! Now let's see if the folks staffing TWC's help desk phone and chat lines will make good use of it. @Julia_R please leave the link to reddit.com in place.
What will happen is Netgear will come up with new firmware and it will take TWC 4-6 months to get it, test it then send it out to customers.( it took 8-10 months for them to fix the 6183 IPv6 issue last year)
TWC makes no money on coam modems, so don't expect them to jump right on the issue... You're better off getting on PS4's case and have them fix their OS, as it keeps twc/spectrum/charter/all cable co's out of the update/repair to customer time loop.
