So..... if the loaner 16-channel downstream modem shows no uncorrectables at all after 2 days, and I hook my own 8-channel modem up, if mine starts showing high uncorrectables and dropped channels again, does that mean my modem is bad?

Maybe... maybe not...

Newer modems have better DSP technology.

 I doubt the old modem is actually bad

it's design just doesn't work well on TWC's mess...

Spectrum is supposed to be providing free modems.. wait.

That's the same line of thought I've been having re: the DSP tech on the modems.  I wonder how long it will be till they drop the modem rental fee.  I'd just use theirs once the fee is dropped.

Finally the loaner modem did *something*..... though one T3 Timeout isn't much to complain about.  Perhaps it was loss of upstream path....

Update:  I'm back using my modem, SB6141, but with the power supply from the loaner, the tech's SB6183, to see if the power supply from mine is bad.  The tech hasn't seen any issue with signals this week in my area and he does not know if any further work was done by the maintenance crews at my neighbors' homes.  I set up my modem direct to my computer, and then through my router, and the speedtest results were the same ... 59 Mbps down /6 up, as it should be.  Now we wait and see what my modem does and if I have any related connectivity issues again.

Note: with the tech's full-speed-provisioned modem, when connected directly to my PC's Gigabit Ethernet, it gets 248 Mbps down /23 up.  When I was getting 89 down with his modem, it was going through my non-Gigabit router and was limited by it.

...and in the time it took me to post that last comment, my 6141 dropped channel 6 and replaced it with channel 14.  Nothing new in the logs since the initial connect, so far.

You have ingress issues still... 585 mHz (ch6) it local tv ch 33 getting in somewhere, could be anywhere from the modem, to the cable head end miles away

But the tech doesn't see any problem, he says the SB6141 gives them a lot of problems.  The problem is it doesn't handle the ingress issues from TWC lines being under-maintained in some neighborhoods.  I don't see how I can get them to do anything to fix this.

Now two hours later, another channel has dropped and been replaced.  Still nothing new in the modem log.  I haven't been online so I haven't seen symptoms.

 

  I don't see why I have to buy a $100 modem when there isn't anything wrong with mine, and my 50/5 speed is more than covered by my 6141.   The tech apparently wants me to rent my modem from TWC so he can replace it with the 6183.  I don't want to rent one.  He has no idea if and when Spectrum will drop the modem rental charge in this area.

Service slowdown for a minute, and sure enough, lost a downstream channel altogether, now only have 7 down instead of 8.
