Not sure what "resetting the "good channels" counts" means.  Which levels are you referring to?
Shall I just watch this for a while and see where it goes the next few days?

 

EDIT: Oh, you mean the downstream power levels?  As for resetting to find good channels, do you mean I should be seeing T4 time-outs and modem resets?

you are adding and deleting channels yet the correcteds on the remaining channels is staying the same.. That's unusual, may be different CMTS firmware

Well the tech had told me last week when he was here, that they were upgrading equipment preparing for this speed upgrade from 15 to 50 Mbps (which happened last midnight), and changing things at the headend, so that could very well be the case.  I don't know if it is a good thng or a bad thing, I'll keep an eye on it a few days, i guess.

Nothing new in the modemlog but I now have channels 13 and 16, in place of 3 and 4.

The skipped channels and high uncorrecteds are a bad sign....

Agreed.  I'll call the tech after my visitors leave Thursday or Friday.  Still ingress from "somewhere out there" it would seem.  The skipped channels also stretches the  download bandwidth beyond the specs of the modem, I think.

EDIT: ...and no sooner to I say it, and the modem log shows Partial Fallback again tonight, and my Downstrean Channels are down to 6 instead of 8.

8 channel modems should all go 96 mHz or 16 channel spacing. Problem is interference on the channels that are now missing.

I see.  Thanks.  It's after 8 AM July 7, and I still only have 6 downstream channels, but they are not the same 6 as last night.  Now I've got 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11.  It dropped channel 5 (579 mHz) and picked up channel 11.  I'm guessing the only way I'll get 8 channels back for now, is to reboot the modem once again.  I'll call the tech today or tomorrow, when visitors leave.

Rebooted the modem again, as there was some interference/slowing again, not as bad as previously due to my new higher speed upgrade, but atill there.  Another signal benchmark to try and catch the ingress again.  I need as much evidence as i can get, for the tech.  :-)

Just posting this to keep a record until I get a tech to come out again.  Now on Friday night, I'm down from eight then to seven then to six, now to only five downstream channels.... three have been lost and not replaced at all.
