The modem dropped downstream channel 11 yesterday, this morning it picked it up again  Look at the high uncorrectables on channel 11!

It got bad after that, at 4:45 I had to reboot the modem because it switched channels again, and suddenly my formerly 50 Mbps download speed turned into only 0.50 Mbps, according to speedtest.net

 

I just heard from the original TWC tech who I had called, he was on vacation!  He's thinking of bringing a test modem to see what it does.  Still trying to convince him of the ingress.

 

I did the power reset shown here, after the issues just prior to it in the log, which led to the total loss of speed.

Downstream partial service is caused by a broken shield connection somewhere...Broadcast TV is getting in intermittently

 

A 16 channel modem stays on the bad channels but has awfull error counts on them whereas yours is trying to find good ones. This is probably a job for the bucket truck guys unless this tech can drive from your modem back to the HFC fiber converter and look for a serious egress point which is probably where the Ingress is getting in.

The tech came out Sunday, hooked up one of his test modems up on the pole by my house, and said he was getting erratic speeds, whereas the same modem was rock stable back at his office, so he contacted the maintenance bucket crew to find where the bad connections were.  They were out on the pole at midnight Sunday, at the same time i experienced a big slowdown.  He called today and said they detected issues on a couple of my neighbors lines and had to follow up to get into their homes to see what was going on there. 
The tech thinks that in addition to that, i may have a problem with my modem or its power supply, although nothing in my logs has indicated an issue with the power supply, that I can see. 

 

He gave me one of his test modems to try for a few days, which apparently is provisioned for him, and allows much faster up and download speeds than I pay for.... so instead of my 50 Mbps down and 5 up on speedtest.net, when I hooked it up last night, it was getting about 89 Mbps down and 20 up.  It's got 16 downstream channels, and is an Arris Touchstone SB 6183.  The logs haven't shown anything since the initial hookup last night.  The Status page so far always shows 0 uncorrectables, which makes me wonder if it uses a different baseline than my SB6141.  Anyway, i can't help feeling his modem being provisioned for him as a tech at a higher speed and 16 channels, may not be the best test for whether my modem is bad.  it feels like comparing apples to oranges, though the tech seems to feel otherwise.

 

This evening, speedtest was showing very erratic download speeds with his modem, ranging anywhere from 80 Mbps down to 25 Mbps down, as I tried it connecting to different servers.  I think that's the erratic issue he saw, that may be due to the leakage from bad connections at neighbors on my node.

 

Anyway, I'll update when I find out if they fix anything there.  Still have to determine if it's just that, or if there's also an issue with my modem or PSU..... and how to test that.

89/20 still indicates a downstream issue... s/b 200 or 300/20!

I wondered about that.  He said when he loaned it, that it got 300 down.  I knew that was it's capability but didn't know if he meat that's what I should see at my house using his tech-provisioned modem.  If that's the case, then it's got a big issue.

He also claimed that i'd see the same issues with both modems if mine wasn't bad, but apparently his 16-channel won't drop channels and have partial service fallbacks like my 8-channel, so it IS comparing apples to oranges.

TWC may have fixed some of the line issues

the 6183/ has newer technology. or firmware has been doctored.
