Arris TM1602 keeps rebooting (help ;-;)

I’ve been having an issue with my modem where it will randomly reboot out of nowhere. I’ve looked to see if there’s any problems in the logs, and sure enough, there were a whole lot of errors. I had a tech come in to check it out. He check all my lines and replaced my modem but I’m still getting the same problem. help ;(

Re: Arris TM1602 keeps rebooting (help ;-;)

Is it a different model modem?

Looks like something is provisioned wrong perhaps...

It’s the same exact model as before

I would exchange that modem since it has the defective intel puma 6 chipset that has not been fixed by intel or arris and no sign that it will ever be fixed. Here is the link describing the issues with the faulty intel puma 6 chipset and the cable modems that have that faulty chipset. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/hardware/lawsuit-brewing-over-unfixed-bug-in-intel-puma-6-cpus... I exhcanged my modem and they gave me an Ubee MTA. Which has not rebooted, dropped my connection, and no more lag with online game play. Not to mention the T3, T4, and RS Partial services have not happened with the non intel puma 6 DOCSIS 3 Modem. Not to mention Arris is currently being sued over the faulty intel puma 6 chipsets that are in their modems which they have not recalled. Here is a link to an article on the lawsuit filed against Arris.

@toolman1990

I actually had scheduled an appointment for a tech to come out and "repair" my lines outside. If that dosen't work, I'll defenitly take your advice on switching to the Ubee MTA.

I'll keep you posted

 I would do that but I can guareentee you it is not a line or connection issue. I have had multiple techs out and had them sit at my address all day with a meter hooked up inside and outside at the tap and no errors or dropped packets. I still had issues with it rebooting, T3/T4 timeouts, and RS Partial Service errors. It turns out the faulty intel puma 6 chipset was casuing all these issues including the constant lagging when playing COD Black Ops using Xbox 360.

Re: Arris TM1602 keeps rebooting (help ;-;)

The "illegal set operation fail" Appears to be provisioning/ firmware. Get a different model modem.. However T3 and T4 errors are line issues. Usually upstream loss/ excessive noise ingress, bad grounding, etc.

Need to see the signal level page after the modem has been up fro at least 6-8 hours without a reset to see the correcteds/ uncorrecteds on the downstream side.
