I am sorry if what I said was misinterpreted. I suggested if he was in the market for purchasing a new modem it certainly would not hurt and may be helpful. Also said "If that is something you would rather not do until it is determined to be the issue you should hold off on that."
If he would like to lease a modem from us we would then replace it if that were the problem at no cost to him. He does not pay a lease fee for his MTA. When someone has phone and Internet service and uses their own modem there is no lease fee for the MTA.
