I really getting sick of changes to the DVR screens

I've been with TWC for too many years to count, 25+.  I've had dozens of DVR's over the years and overall I have been happy with the service.  But over the past several years the constent changes are driving us nuts.

As an example, the different layouts of the "list" screen alone are rediculous.  There has been about three "new looks" in the past few months alone!  Here is an idea, pick something and stick with it!!

Absoultly none of these changes give me any benefit, they are change for the sake of change.  Sure I have more options by making me scroll thru menus upon menus, but to do simple things I now have to hit buttons about 5 times when it used to be one or two.   We DVR everything we watch, it used to take a few seconds to look at my "list" and pick something to watch, now all of the sudden each show is seperated out and it takes forever to scroll down in the list that is 5 times longer than it used to be and on screen I see less of it than I used too.

I could go on and on about the stupid changesTWC makes, but what's the point?

I realize nothing will come from my complaint, heck you can't even talk to anyone beyond a CSR at TWC.  But for me these things add up over time and it's time to find another option.

 Greetings,
The newer Spectrum boxes are cloud-data based, and the menus and systems are updated from time to time to reflect the changes in the technology.  The goal is to move more and more of the data off of the boxes and onto cloud-based server networks.

If you want less change, you might want to go back to an SA (Scientific Atlanta) DVR.  These boxes are updated less and may have more of the straight-forward DVR lists that you are seeking.  I have not had an SA model box in years.  Maybe someone from the community could provide a screenshot of what an SA model DVR list looks like.  Than you could see the changes.  They don't have cover art, and last time I used an SA-model box, did not have folders either.  I don't think that has changed for the SA boxes.

Be advised that all those SA boxes are refurbished, and have been in the field for about 10-15 years.  They are often slow and have limited storage space compared to the modern DVR's The SA boxes also cannot do menus in HD, because of their age.  In what division are you located, and what box do you now have?

Re: I really getting sick of changes to the DVR screens

I'm not really into the tech aspect of DVR's.   I have two DVR's from TW, now Spectrum.  Both the same, black Arris DCX3600-M.

To me it's simple I hate comericals, we watch a lot of TV so we record everything and watch it at our convienence in two locations.  To get this covvience I pay for cable and rent DVR's.  I want the service to be easy to use and work the way it should.  Over the past several years they are making the service harder to use and more complicated to use with updates that change nothing but make you hit more buttons on the remote to get to what you want.

Example; the update a while back back gave me the option to delete multiple shows at a time by clicking on several and then hitting delete one time. A great option and I used it a lot.  Now a I get an update and that option is GONE!  Why?  Makes no sense.  To make matter worse the list of recorded shows now pops up in one giant list of each show listed individually, not grouped by show like it used to be.  It make the list crazy long to scrool thru to find what you want.  To make it worse the sliding bar on the side to let you know where you are on the list is gone also, so you have no idea where you are on the list as you scroll.   I can switch it to the group list like it was,  but in typical fashion it defaults to the "new look" and I have to hit more buttons to get to what I had before making it more complicated.

Still don't get it;   imagine came into your kitchen and switched the drawers.  You go to a certain drawer to get silverware, but it's not there anymore.  I bet you'd go to the wrong drawer for the next several weeks, before you got in the habbit of going to the new drawer for silverware.    Now about the time you start to get use to the new location I switch the drawers around again.  Why would they do this to their customers?  Clearly the people making these updates to the on screen options don't use the DVR's on a regular basis or they would never make the changes they do.

All of this is first world problems for sure, but I pay over $200 a month for a service and if that service isn't doing the job I need it to do I'll take my business elsewhere.

"I can switch it to the group list like it was, " ... I have not found this yet.

P.S. I saw someone talked about "pull the plug".  I did and it came back to the grouped guide like last week...  I could not imagine it would.  /Dan
