On Demand Inappropriate Commercials for kids

While watching Disney/Pixar's movie Ratatouille On Demand this morning with my kids, a commercial for the upcoming horror film "Slender Man" came on.  This trailer is very graphic and extremely scary.  Why would there be a trailer for an R rated horror film during the viewing of a children's movie???

Commercials are generally intentially targeted a certain viewers.  How do we get this type of advertising get paired with a animated movie?  BTW, the next commercial break had the same trailer.  Thanks for scaring the hell out of my kids.

Hello,

What was the station?  Was it Disney Channel or Disney Channel on Demand, or Disney Movies on Demand? You would need to reach out to the main station who is responsible for their On Demand Content, including commercials.  I would contact them through Facebook, Twitter, or a direct "Contact Us" link at their website.

Spectrum, like any other TV provider, would have no control over the On Demand commercials.  This is the responsibility of the station broadcasters.  I share your concern, and would definitely contact them.

Re: On Demand Inappropriate Commercials for kids

The movie was found through Spectrum's On Demand - channel 1000.  I don't think this was found in the Disney section.  I just rememeber finding it in the "Kids" section of the On Demand channel.  But I can no longer find  the movie Ratatouille since is has been removed from the On Demand selection (a day after I complained).

So Spectrum is not responsible for putting content in their On Demand section?

Hi CrowJoe,

Glad the objectionable movie was removed!  You are correct, The host stations put their On Demand content out to all the providers.  If you have an objection about a station's On Demand Content , you must contact the host station.  Spectrum is only responsible for broadcasting the content given to them by the station's  On Demand counterparts

Gracenote provides the listing data for Spectrum and other TV vendors around the country for the guides.  Spectrum can only assist on the cable TV end of things, with signals, lines, or box problems, not the data coming from the stations themselves.

However, Spectrum does provide parental control options on all of their devices.  If you are interested in how that works, post back and I or someone else can show you how to set up Parental Control options.

Just curious, to whom did you complain about the movie?

Thanks for the clarification.  I actually only got a chance to complain to you via this site.  Not sure if it was a pure coincidence or if someone else complained about the commercial that they pulled the plug on the movie.

Re: On Demand Inappropriate Commercials for kids

A customer complained about an inappropriate commercial during a children's movie so you removed the movie? Why not just remove the inappropriate commercial? I'm a bit confused on this one.
