Re: Tuning adapter failure in 75082

What you should try is a 2 way splitter with the modem on one port, the tuning adapter on the otjher with the Tivo on the TA's output port instead of the load resistor.

That will provide 3.5 dB better signal to the TA

Re: Tuning adapter failure in 75082

I have these devices attached to a three-way splitter:

 -3.5 --> sb6183 cable modem

 -7.0 --> motorola tuning adapter (RF out terminated)

 -7.0 --> Tivo

This confguration has worked for at least five years. The tuning adapter also does not connect if I bypass the splitter entirely and feed the tuning adapter only.

The last time my tuning adapter stopped connecting was March 2015, and a replacement tuning adapter also refused to connect. Then it magically started working the next week. I'm not willing to waste another trip for an ineffective equipment swap.

I can't pull signal levels from the TA becuase its diagnostic menus are not available until after it connects. The signal levels on the cable modem attached to the -3.5 port looks like this:

Re: Tuning adapter failure in 75082

Yes, Get another tuning adapter.

 but first, copy and paste your modems signal level page and describe where it is splitterwise from the line that feeds the TA

Then in whatever it's connected to, grab an in band channel level and the out of band levels from the TA.

Tuning adapter failure in 75082

I was having difficulty tuning SDV channels with my Tivo Roamio plus Motorola tuning adapter combination last night around midnight Central in Richardson, TX, 75082. I called TWC, who was broadcasting a prerecorded message about "missing channels" which usually means some sort of SDV problem.

The system-wide problem was supposedly cleared by morning, but my tuning adapter continues to flash its amber light, which means it is not connecting and I cannot tune any SDV channels.

My video service outage is right at 24 hours now. Phone support says the only option is an onsite tech visit eight days from now, which I find ridiculous since the problem is mostly likely on the system side.

Aren't tuning adapters just simple DOCSIS 2 cable modems? My SB6183 modem shows good signal levels, approximately +0 dbmv downstream and 39 dbmv upstream--don't tuning adapters operate in the same bands? This is probably not a signal issue.

I find it hard to believe that TWC allows devices on its network that have zero capability for remote support.

I have an issue open via the dslreports TWC direct support forum but received zero acknowledgement from @TWC_Help on twitter. Is there any way to get a resolution faster than eight days?
